Long Bio:
Stefanie Contreras knew in 4th grade that she wanted to be a writer. It started with daydreaming while watching TV and grew into worldbuilding original stories and characters. She joined the school newspaper from elementary school through university and eventually picked up copyediting and page design along the way. She studied journalism and advertising at Northern Arizona University, and Communications at the University of Oregon.
In 2017, Stefanie first self-published the fantasy story Untested on the publication site Channillo. She then self-published The Merry Maids, Piecefinder and Starkiller (a complete sci-fi trilogy) on Amazon from 2019 to 2021. In 2022 her short story Pestilence appeared in the charity anthology Autumn Nights: Nine Stories to Nibble at Your Nape, where the proceeds benefit The Trevor Project. In 2023 her short story The Warlock and the Crow appeared in the anthology Rituals & Grimoires: Gothic Tales of Dark Magic and Wizardry.
In addition to writing novels, Stefanie is a marketing volunteer with both Quill & Crow Publishing House and WriteHive, a non-profit that provides free, inclusive events and resources for all writers. She also is the co-host of the Pop Culture Junkees podcast, which was mentioned by the Nerdist as "These 9 Geeky and Nerdy Latinx Podcasts Are A Pure Delight." Stefanie also has served as an officer with Geek Girl Brunch Phoenix since 2016 and with the Geek Girl Brunch HQ since 2019.
Stefanie was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and likes to escape the the desert heat by writing in air-conditioned coffee shops. A self-proclaimed #geekgirl, she loves comicon, Geek Girl Brunch, drinking more coffee than one person should, and amassing a ridiculous collection of cosplay accessories.
